Meet the Team at CARS of Grimsby: Driven by Excellence

Welcome to CARS of Grimsby, where passion meets expertise in the world of automotive care. Our dedicated team is the heartbeat of our business, committed to delivering exceptional service and ensuring your journey with us is nothing short of excellence.

Directors

Our Directors are made up of husband and wife team Jason & Lisa Barker.

Jason Barker | Managing Director

I was born and raised in Grimsby, and always had a passion for everything automotive! After leaving school, I initially worked on the Docks with my Dad, before venturing into the car industry.

Although I was quite old for an apprentice at age 27, my passion for the car repair industry propelled me at an extreme rate. 25 years later, we own a successful accident repair centre founded on quality and excellent customer service. Our business has gone from strength to strength, and we’ve been at home in our bigger premises on the South Humberside Industrial Estate since 2018.

When you love what you do, it never feels like work – and I never have that ‘Sunday feeling’!

Favourite Holiday Destination: Santorini or The Lakes

Favourite Drink: Jack Daniels Anything

Best Car I’ve Ever Owned: Porsche Cayman S

Lisa Barker | Director

Having always had a hand in the business, I officially joined CARS in 2014 following a lengthy career with the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP). Along with Jason, I am responsible for the daily running of the business, specialising in accounts and other financial aspects.

I am passionate about maintaining the CARS ethos of putting the customer at the forefront of everything we do. We wouldn’t be here without you!

My Hobbies: Walking weekends in the Lakes with Jase (talking business!) or on the beach with our dog, Nelly.

Favourite Drink: White Wine & Lemonade or a Whiskey!

Best Car I’ve Ever Owned: Audi TT

Office Team

Our office team is made up of Sam, Mark R, Mark A, Ebony, Abbie, and Nelly.

Sam Morgan | Customer Relationship Manager

I joined CARS in 2022 after working as a Production Manager in the signage industry for several years.

I thoroughly enjoy my role as it combines my passion for cars with my keen ability to help people. Although customer service was a part of my previous job, prior to joining CARS I’d never been in a situation where I had to help people who’d just been in a car accident and were understandably upset.

I feel privileged to hand over fully repaired vehicles to our customers and put smiles back on their faces.

My Hobbies: Watching the F1 and sneaker shopping.

Favourite Holiday Destination: New York

Dream Car: BMW M4 Competition G82

Mark Rimmer | Workshop Controller

I recently joined CARS as Workshop Controller. My aim is to ensure that the team works cohesively and efficiently, whilst also making work a happy place to be.

I have many years of experience in the motor industry, across different elements, including an abrasive manufacturer, body shop distribution and more.

When I’m not at work, you’ll find me playing golf, snooker, pool or enjoying family time with my Wife and three children.

Favourite Drink: Guinness Cocktail

Favourite Holiday Destination: Rhodes

Mark Avison | Estimator

I started my working life on the local fishing docks at age 14, before getting my first job in the motor trade at 23.

More than 20 years later, I’ve never looked back. I’ve worked in various sectors within the motor industry, including sales, parts and estimating.

My favourite thing about working at CARS is the real buzz we get from turning a damaged car back to factory condition. It’s amazing to see the customers’ faces when they collect their vehicles.

Favourite Holiday Destination: Greece

Favourite Drink: Southern Comfort

Favourite Food: Tapas

Ebony Barker | Head of Marketing

I joined CARS as Head of Marketing at the beginning of 2023. My role is centred around ensuring our customers and colleagues are kept informed about everything going on here at CARS, and in the wider industry. A large portion of my time is spent producing and publishing educational content, ensuring our customers are aware of their rights when it comes to accident and insurance repairs.

I look forward to delving into the operations side of the business throughout 2024 and beyond.

Hobbies: Running, Formula 1, shopping and trying new restaurants

Favourite Holiday: New York

Abbie Curtiss | Finance Administrator

I joined CARS in 2020 after previously working for another local garage in the service department. I now work in accounts and specialise in supplier payments, VAT reconciliation and other financial administrative duties.

Favourite Holiday Destination: Florida

My Hobbies: Swimming, shopping & being Mummy to Ada

My First Car: Seat Arosa

Nelly Barker | CARS Mascot

Chief morale booster and belly rub demander.

Workshop Team

Our workshop team is made up of Callum, Deacon, James, Steve, Paul, and Danny.

Callum Barker | Workshop Technician

I joined CARS as an apprentice almost 8 years ago and I’m now a qualified painter. I get to work on many different types of vehicles, meaning I’m continuously expanding my knowledge of the wider industry.

Hobbies: When I’m not at work, you’ll find me doing DIY at home – I’m always on with a project! I also enjoy watching F1 and going on walks with my dog, George.

Best Quality: I am to come into work each day and aim to make everyone laugh!

Deacon Stocks | Workshop Technician

Bio coming soon.

James Spencer | Workshop Technician

I started my first job within the vehicle industry at Great Coates Motors, aged 16. Since then, I have enjoyed a happy career, working at a number of successful repair centres across Lincolnshire.

I joined CARS in 2023 as a Paint Technician. I enjoy the variation of the position and it’s great to be a part of a family-run team.

Hobbies: When I’m not at work, you’ll find me practicing and learning more about hydrodipping, or walking in the countryside.

Steven Sadler | Valeter

Bio coming soon.

Paul Maguire | Workshop Technician

Bio coming soon.

Danny Deakins | Workshop Technician

I’ve worked at various places in the automotive industry, from vehicle factories (such as Honda and Bentley) and accident repair through to cosmetic repairs for end of lease vehicles.

Working at CARS allows me to experience great variation with the number of different makes and models we repair. I also enjoy working within a small family team where you get seen and heard, as opposed to being a number within a larger organisation.

Hobbies: Most of my hobbies revolve around cars, my favourite being supporting my son with his karting.

Favourite Drink: I’m not much of an alcohol drinker. I loved a Cherry Coke growing up, but I mainly just stick to water these days!

Dream Car: Hopefully I can choose more than one! Anything in the Ford Cosworth range. Or I could narrow it down to the Ford RS200 Rally Car and the early Honda NSX.
